Hi all, my names nade and i'm a total newbie to axolotl's,
First of all i'm really excited as I just put a down payment on a little chap i'm gonna call rudy, ive a bearded dragon called dexter, what can i say i love the show!
but before i take the little fella home i'm setting up his tank,
my query today is, is it ok to put rocks from my garden into the tank?, my idea is to boil/soak them with boiling water a few times as well as a good scrub,
would this process be ok?
Thanks

DON'T boil rocks depending on the type they can explode and if your near by its not pretty. Just scrub them and pouring boiling water over them will be fine. Do the vinegar test to see if they are suitable to be submersed.

i know im condricting the post prior lol but i did a similar thing and took rocks from a river bed, did the vinegar test (take a dry "clean" rock and pour some vinegar on it, if it bubbles then its a no go)

i did not consider if rocks were going to blow up that might be worth some thought, but i did boil mine for 6+ hrs.

and something else important!!! MAKE SURE THEY ARE LARGE ROCKS! no small gravel!

^^ Yeah It's not all rocks but i wouldn't really want to risk it. I read it when i was looking on how to make rocks aquarium safe, maybe blowing up is a bit over the top but i could see it happening. 0.02c
