I posted yesterday that my recently purchased spanish ribbed newts have layed a load of eggs, i separated the eggs from the hungry parents and the fertile eggs from the infertile ones and placed them in shallow water in 2 separate tanks (the water is spring water).
the odd thing is today the larvae I could see are still there yet teh egg which they were encased in seems to have fanished leaving only very small developing larvae, they are moving but are no longer in the eggs, i have raised newt eggs before although not this species and have never experienced anything like this, does anyone know what may have caused this ad if it has ever happened before to anyone else?
Im guessing this isnt normal and that the larvaes chances of survival in such a state is slim and non.
