Don't know if anyone on the forum lives around me, but I've discovered that a pet store (a not so good one) has had t. grans in stock for several months now (not the same ones). Unfortunately, I don't have room for any more.

They're probably (almost guaranteed) all wildcaught. I would try to avoid purchasing them to discourage them from getting more.

Hey JoanS! thanks for the email, and I forgot to let you know-the bait I was using, worms and minnows usually, but once we were using pemeal bacon, and caught a mudpuppy.....
Which petstore? Is it in the michighan area, my bfs petstore stocks the regularily as well, in Windsor On, if you need some let me know...I'll tell you where to go

the ones at my petstore are not wild caught, according to the owner...

I know of no people in North America that are currently successfully breeding Taricha and distributing them to pet stores. If this owner says they're captive bred, I'd be VERY interested in hearing their techniques for egg laying and raising.

I have a 1.3 ratio right now, and it's also a pain to transport animals into the US (believe me, I've tried).

Karen, if you are looking for a petstore as a location to aquire animals then you need to place this in a wanted ad.

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
