So surprisingly my Pachytriton are getting on very well. The new shrimp, used to help clean vegetation so I don't have to, hurt one of my newts! I expected the shrimp to die rather quickly. It just looks like an infected foot- I already removed the last phalanx on the toe that was damaged, how can I best go about aiding in the regrowth process?

What does it look like, anyways? I'm assuming there is lots of blood going to that area, which would explain the local swelling, in order to feed the growing mesenchyme.

Are you sure it was the shrimp who injured the newt? What kind of shrimp is it? It seems more likely that it was injured by the other paddletail, or by limb rot.

There isn't much you can do to aid the regrowth. Just keep the animal in a clean enclosure where it can't re-injure the foot.

After a few days its looking more and more like limb rot. She is one of the dominant ones in the tank and eats a TON of food when fed; is fat and healthy otherwise. What can I do to help?
