You can try treating with Neosporin ointment, the type without painkiller in it, but you really need to see a vet and get the correct antibiotics for the best chance of saving it, as shown in this thread.
Its also important that conditions in its tank are perfect in every way. Imported newts are extremely stressed, so an optimal environment will give it the best chance of recovering.
I will definetly go see a vet. The newts were sold to me as giant firebellies but i beileve that paddletail newts are commonly sold in stores as giant firebellies
There is a good chance of saving it if you see a vet, its the best thing to do by a long way.
Its actually a Warty newt, these are also often sold as giant firebellys by petstores and aquarium shops.
