What is the best tank set-up for red salamanders (amount of water, substrate, etc)?

This is really a question of whether or not you prefer an aquatic or terrestrial setup.

For an aquatic setup I prefer to go with about 6-10 inches of water with lots of rocks protruding the water's surface.

For a terrestrial setup you could just go with a simple substrate of coco fiber, leaf debris, a water dish, and a couple hides.

This is one of those species where you have endless possibilities on how to arrange the tank , it basically boils down to what you think is asthetically pleasing.

Here is a link to a video that Jake posted a while back. It does a good job of showing off his set-up and may help you out as far as ideas for what you want to do.
