Hi there,
I was walking along in the woods and I decided to check under some logs, where I ended up finding this batch of white/grey eggs, about 2/3 mm in diameter. there are about 10 of them. Do these look like red back salamander eggs to you? It has been a pretty warm week where I live and being the middle of may, I figured it is probably breeding season by now.

They are most likely slug eggs. I have done the same thing, where I flip something and see eggs, but they are slug eggs :( Might be able to put them in one of your salamander tank and when they hatch they would be good food. -Seth

Slug eggs are usually pretty small, and aren't slimy or jelly like on the outside from, at least not the ones I have found. It may depend on the species.

Also, most lungless salamanders that I have heard of attach their eggs to something with a strand of jelly[?]. But I don't think slugs do. -Seth

Those still might be salamander eggs. I have found even smaller eggs and they turned out to be ensatina and red-back eggs.

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
