Oh, and also, one of my newt room. Top row has marms.
Middle row has verrucosus and 2 P. waltls
Next middle row is empty, just storage.
Bottom is kweichowensis.

Very nice photos and animals. I think marms are so pretty. I would love to have a newt room, and have been toying with the idea of digging out the crawl space in the basement but probably never will. But your photos make me think I ought to try to post some pics of my pyrrhos, but they always are too big. Anyway, thank you for the post

Very nice, Kyle! My favorite is the trio of verrucosus - it looks like they are discussing the latest gossip. I assume you know about the calendar competition for photos?

marmoratus have such fantastic colors. You capture them very well.

Your newts look great, and so do the pics! I'm using the same camera right now and I'm wondering if that's the kit lens(18-55) and if you're using an extra flash?

Thanks for all the kind words, I'm glad you all have enjoyed the photos, I'm sure more, and better ones will pop up from time to time.

Garrison-
No, its not the kit lens, and I'm not using an extra flash.

I am using an EF-S 17-85mm AF USM w/ IS.
But, for these shots Image stabilization was not turned on, and I was using manual focus--hence the bad depth of field in some shots, as it was hard to tell through the viewfinder exactly where I was focusing under the poor lighting.

They are all hand held though(no tripod), in an underlit basement, so I am pleased with myself, although I have so much to learn about this whole thing yet lol.
Any tips?

Hello Kyle
Nice pictures of your newts and I just love the simplicity of the containers where keep some of your newts!

Wow Kyle!

Madly in love with your marm photo's, especially the second! I would love to see that one the calendar.

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
