Ino rearing larvae in tubs is easy however has it side effects. Would a small tank with filtration be a better idea or would cause to much water movement and actually stress the larvae.

I don't usually use filtration because I use daphnia as food; it would get sucked into the filter. Many filters also have the problem that they would suck up the larvae, when small. Using a low-power filter, with appropriate diffusion of the flow, would be OK.

IMO the best rearing is in fairly large tanks, heavily planted, and already set up and established for a long time before the larvae are put there. When the larvae reach a medium to large size, I sometimes add a filter and quit using daphnia.

i have 3 10 gallon tanks that i have seperated eggs i have 130 divided into those three. i have not used any air or filters in my tank.

my eggs hatched with in 3 weeks

i feed them microworms until they got big then i feed BBS moved on to ABS and now they are on blood worms. they have grown to the point where i am now selling them (sold 10 so far js :D)
