Is it strange that my axolotl only laid 14 eggs?11 are good ((so far)it's been 3 days)also I put an airpump in a 10 gallon tank with the eggs on the plants they were laid on and the eggs are kinda shaking from the air pump, Are they ok?and out of 11 are my chances of atleast 3 living and being merry good?(granted i don't screw up)thanks for any input.

Hi, is it possible the adults could have eaten some eggs? I dont use an air pump or filter with my babies. I have them in small tubs. I find it easier to keep an eye on them and feed them. As the food is more concentrated in less water. How did you go on with the brine shrimp have you hatched any yet? I would say theres a good chance of 3 making it. Out of my batches i got about 11 out of 25 from batch one. I think i got around 17 out of 30 from batch 2 and 31 out of 31 hatched live out of batch 3. I've had one or 2 natural deaths since and a couple of accidents and a fungus but still got a good lot out of batch 3. Good luck and enjoy! Mel

Hello,

The number of eggs depends also on how much the female was fed before laying.

And, anyway, 11 axies is few when they are young, but it becomes a lot when they grow.
The less you have, the best you'll look after them.

When were the eggs laid? Many axolotls will lay eggs over a long period, some times a week or two.

im not sure when they were laid. BUT they hatched yesterday!!!!only 2 made it.
