Quikrete play sand!

Is this okay to use in my tank? The sand I have is kind of coarse and I'm afraid of it hurting Stanley though he has been fine since a he was a juvi. I'm running to the Johnsons and it looks like that's what they have. Some say it has lime but I couldn't find anything on their website.

I looked around at a few sites about it, and it seems like it would be fine to use in your tank. The only issue with it is that it's a lot easier to kick up and make a mess of, so I would suggest you get quikcrete pool sand instead because it's heavier.

:happy:When I first got my set-up that is what I bought, but after cleaning it, I saw little flakes that looked like silver glitter, and I just didn't feel right using it so I ordered some sand from Petco.com, And it is working out fine. It is a very nice color of white,Aztec seems to like it.

I use the play sand in all my aquarium (or slate tile siliconed to the bottom) and I haven't had any problems. But, you need to rinse the sand ALOT. It has alot of fine dust in it. I usually have to rinse it 30-40 times until the water in the bucket comes out clear.

@mizzerman, did you not get any of the little glitter looking specks in the sand that you got, because we washed our sand until the water was very clear yet it still had those little specks in it, it looks to me like sliver glitter, so I was worried about using it,
I don't if this bag came from somewhere else and that got into it, We bought it at Home Depot ,here in town,
