Questions about Breeding Nets and cycled tanks

I hope these aren't stupid questions, because I really don't know that much about breeding Axolotls and i want to be well prepared for the future. I was wondering about a few things. First, I see in the pet store and in aquarium catologs breeding nets for fish. They are little box shaped things that go inside the aquarium and attatch to the side of the tank. I was wondering if Axolotl eggs could be removed from the parent Axolotls and the traffic from the pain part of the tank and placed in these breeding nets to help the Axie eggs develope. I was also wondering if this wasn't possible if Axie eggs could be placed in a cycled tank all on their own? I see a lot of posts about Axolotl eggs put in containers with air stones. Has anyone tried the breeding nets or the cycled tank alone for the eggs? Any impute would be most helpful for me in the far future. Thanks

Rheann - The breeding net idea might work for hatching only, depending on the mesh.

It would also depend on how many eggs you have. You don't want the eggs all crowded up or the ones in the middle don't do well.

When the larvae hatched you would be unable to feed them in the nets because brine shrimp would fit though the mesh.

Some of the problems of with using an aquarium for the larvae would be that you don't want deep water for the larvae. They need shallow water so it is easier for them to find food. The water needs changed pretty much daily so an aquarium would make it more awkward (at least for me). Also you need to start sorting the larvae by size so they don't eat each other.

So in the end it is just easier to move the eggs to containers that are suitable for the larvae to live and feed in rather than using breeding nets or an aquarium.

Ah, I see now, Thanks Cynthia

I wasn't sure at all about the containers, or if they could be put in tanks. It would be a lot easier for them to be kept in small containers with water changes. I will have loads more questions in the future. Thanks again ^_^
