How old/big is it? Mine are juvies, so I feed three meals at the same time every day. I like routine, and I find that animals seem to prefer it as well. Although axolotls are little pigs, so they'll probably be fine with whenever.
Turns out my axie doesnt eat his worms like i thought, just found three in my sand in my tank. Maybe taking him out and putting him in another container and feeding him that way would work? any advice?
I have one that is about 6 inches, and he gets one thick worm every day, he's growing well and definitely isn't losing weight so that works for us.
Maybe separate his feedings?
What worms are you feeding him? When my girl was 6" she couldn't eat live earthworms because A) They were too strong and she would give up & B) I think they may have just been too big so she would regurgitate them 5 minutes later.
He may just need a change in the diet if you aren't already doing so - blood worms and pellets are all my two need. With the earthworms you could burn them in really hot water which will obviously kill them but it also gives off a 'cooked earthworm' smell which may appeal to your little guy If that doesn't work then try cutting them smaller. I would only feed him one worm to make sure he's digesting them and then later on down the track you could try two.
If you only bought him a few days ago then he may just need more time to settle in. Both of mine weren't interested in food for about 4 days!
