I recently moved my two tigers from a 20 gal to a 40 gal. I have to get a lid for it and am wondering which is better: mesh of glass/plastic lid? I know ventilation is important and have a few options I can buy, I am just curious as to what is best. Oh, and lets keep in mind I have a cat that likes to lay in the substrate I use.

I would recommend a screen/mesh lid. Glass lids don't provide enough ventilation usually. You can drill holes in a plastic lid, but a scree/mesh lid would probably be easier.

If you don't feel the screen/mesh is strong enough, you could maybe add a layer of chicken wire over the top and secure it somehow.
