So, I FINALLY convinced my family to let me get an axolotl. Ma was onboard from day one, bro, not so much. So, I have a 10 gallon long tank that is going to be broken down - it currently only holds one female betta (she killed all tank mates so she gets a 3gal of her own). So, I need basic info. What temp should the tank be? Is a 10 gal big enough? (20in long) What should I feed them? What should I expect to pay if bought online? What special tank setup do I need? What kind of filter? (I do say them kinda referring to axolotl in general - I only plan on one). Please forgive my newness to axolotls and the potentially stupid questions as I learn more. I do NOT intend to rush into this (as much as I want to). Thanks for the help!

VERY helpful!! I was always told you need a minimum 20 gal or 2ft for one axie. I'm glad to know I can get away with a 10 gallon! Is there a specific age/size that is best to get one?? thanks!

Not really. Younger ones may adapt faster, but they will all adapt to their new surroundings.

Just make sure you cycle your tank first. When dealing with such a small about of water (10gallons) this will be important. So will weekly water changes. In such a small amount of water your water chemistry can change fast. A stable tank will be important for your Axies health.
