Provide ammonia throughout entire cycle?

So i've been cycling my tank for about a month now and it seems to have frozen at 0 ammonia 5ppm nitrite 5ppm nitrate. I put goldfish pellets in the tank at the beginning to get it started but stopped since then. So my question is, Do you need to provide ammonia throughout the entire cycle? like put in pellets everyday until nitrites go down? or should i just leave it as is and wait some more? Also do i need to be doing water changes to get the nitrite levels down?

yes keep adding them until you add the axolotls. Without an ammonia source the bb will start to die, essentially killing your cycle. So keep adding it even after nitrite goes down
