hello everyone. as most of you know i have 6 juveniles but havent posted pics of 2 of them because they were always in a separate tank from the others as they are MUCH smaller for some reason. well sometime last week the smallest of the 2 got a cloacal prolapse. since then it hasn't got any better and is not eating its bloodworm. i separated it from its companion just in case it got fungal or bacterial infections and passed it on. since they have been separated, the other one (without the prolapse) has also stopped eating. could this axie be suffering separation anxiety or something similar? and what should i do with the axie with the prolapse. ive given salt baths and had it in the fridge but it hasnt worked at all.

oh also...the other axie started floating so i put it in shallow water straight away to stop it stressing out. please help if you can. thanks very much in advance.

Claire - There are a few threads on prolapse in the archives.

I would recommend you go to "Search" at the top of the page and type in "prolapse" and check the box by "search by keyword" and then select the Axolotls(ambystoma mexicanum) from the drop down list. This will list all posts for you.

Keeping them clean and in the fridge is all I can say. I have no experience with prolapse.

I read on larger animals a vet can push the prolapse back up inside with a q-tip or something similar. And I also read that some of the axolotls got better on their own.

Sorry I can't be of more help.
