problem with fungus

i am having a problem with fungus in my salamanders tank.
it is a greenish white color, and it smells bad.

if you have any idea of how to prevent this please help me.

I assume you are speaking of a terrestrial set-up. Fungus is most times associated with too moist/wet of an environment. Do you have good circulation in your viv? i.e., do you have a mesh screen top or other top that allows air circulation? What type of substrate are you using? Do you spot clean your tank for feces? What's the average temp of the environment?

Adequate ventilation is essential.
Newly set-up tanks usually go through a bloom of fungus as the "edible" materials are used. Normally, the bloom dies out once the nutrients have been used. If it persists, cleaning is probably being neglected, and humidity is way too high.
Isopods and springtails are a good help in keeping fungae under control, you could use those.

I have soil in my tank. I clean it 2 times a week. I have a all glass lid also.

The glass lid is probably contributing to too much humidity. I would suggest replacing this with a mesh screen lid for air circulation.

ya it was only growing on the log in the aquarium, so i was told wash it of and i did but it grew back, so i am going to try to ventilate the tank. also it changed color to blue-ish white.

dangit this is getting annoying!!! if i leave the lid open for about an hour the fungus will go away but i put a mesh screen on the back of the glass lidso there will be some air circulation but the fungus still grew back. when i go out to get some moss today i will get a new log!
