Hi everyone,

I recently adopted a 9/10 year old axolotl, she's very healthy and happy but I would like to get her a new tank. Mostly because her tank at the moment is one of those where the filter is attached inside and I find this hard to clean and worried it's not the best thing for her in general.

Could I get some opinions on my plan please?

First of all I plan on buying the Fluval U2 filter (http://amzn.eu/4J6NPbN) and running that in the tank now alongside the current filter for a month.

Then, I would set up the new tank with some plants and toys that are from the current tank, the new filter and some tank water and then cycle the tank with dead, raw prawns. I imagine having the filter that has been in use for a month, the stuff from the tank and the tank water would cut down the cycling process to about 2 weeks?

Any advice would be much appreciated thank you!

Hello. I just noticed two notches, white small bubbles on the hind legs of one of my male newts.

Hey everyone, just want a little advice. Its 55 - 60 celcius in my Salamanders tank. Hes curled up and tyring ti bury himself, Im assuming hes too cold. I was wondering if he would benefit from a heated rock cave (since he LOVES his cave) that I could set on low? I NEVER see him curled up and trying to bury himself unless his tank sits at 63 degrees celcius or lower. So I am assuming hes a little uncomfortable.

He also seems a little sluggish, again, assuming hes cold. Having heating trouble with the new house right now. What do we think? Was thinking of grabbing this for him since its got very low, medium, and higher medium heat settings that exude heat downward inside the rock cave but ALSO exudes it UPWARDS outside of the rock cave, effectively keeping the tank itself a little warm. Seems like it miiiight be a little small for him though, my guy is about 7 inches from tip of his nose tothe tip of his tail.
