(I wasn't sure how to search for this, since all I could think of was 'filters.' so I'm posting.)

So, my axolotl was about to have a nice life in a foam air filtered tank. Then, a close friend had an emergency, and I had to take frogs in, and his place was stolen. So my axolotl was moved to a tank I was about to put goldfish in. (I wanted to move him out of his little quarantine tank.)

I'm afraid cause this one had a power filter, and after a couple of days, I remembered that this was probably bad. (I don't think its adjustable.)

But, he seems to LIKE it. He doesn't look stressed. His tail isn't curled, and his gills don't fall forward. He just sits in front of it like a dog with his head out the window if a car. He swims in loops in the current and likes to sit right where it hits with the most force.

I feel like I should change it anyway. Maybe he likes it because he hasn't been in there over a long period of time. (It's been like... a week.)

I thought about getting a really tiny one and maybe the air powered one. Maybe he'd like that...

So basically, what he appears to like, or what is best for his kind. I'm afraid it might stress him out and he doesn't know it. D:

How big is this tank and what sort of power filter do you have? The typical rule of water flow is that if you see plants moving in the tank, the water flow is too strong.

There are ways to divert the flow if you are concerned that this will stress him. I use artificial reptile vines to divert the waterfall, others have used styrofoam blocks, legos, sponges, or even a soda bottle cut and fitted over the waterfall - if you do a search for divert water flow, you should find all kinds of posts regarding this.

If you have an older Whisper, there should be an adjustment on top of the intake that may prove helpful as well.
