Hello! Yesterday I aquired my first Yellow-Eyed Ensatina. It has it's tail broken off, so I was kind of rescuing it. He/she is a nice sized speciman. I keep him in a container (with air holes) and in the basement. I also own:
2 California Slenders Salamanders
2 Arboreal Salamanders
And the ensatina we are talking about now.
I noticed it was extremely active on the first night. He was exporing it's surroundings. I want to know how to sex these guys. I have just noticed that it has a large belly. Could it be pregnant? It would have to be a female. I found him in the Santa Cruz Mountains. I have a bedding of moss and leaves that I found him on and have two hides: one a piece of bark, another a small cave hide. He seems pretty social.
Best Regards,
