Ive been noticing less and less of one of my females lately she seems to either hide all day or sit on the Lilly pad in the tank as of lately. When I feed the four other tank mates all come out of hiding to eat while this one makes no effort it seems to come eat. Water parameters are good and the diet is varied with earth worms being a staple with daphnia and blood worms around once a week.

Im not really sure what to do the newt looks fine and isn't losing weight but doesn't seem to eat and seems lethargic compared to the others especially the other female whom eats voraciousley. I bring worms right up to her face and she will grab it for a second and then spit it out. It also appears she doesnt seem to travel on the bottom of the tank very often swimming fiercely until finding somthing to hold onto.

I ordered some white worms which should arrive tommorow Im hoping these will spark more interest. Any Ideas guys or suggestions to figure out whats going on here?

Definitely the first step would be to separate the possibly sick newt from the others. That way you can better watch how well she eats, she can get a break from the other newts in the tank if they are bothering her, and you will reduce the risk of spreading anything to the other newts.

Well I was going to seperate her but.... Got some White Worms and after eating a few of these she entered the water so I dcecided to offer some night crawlers and she readily ate quite a few big chunks still eating atm. She even chased the other female off the food and she is alot bigger:grin:

Im just gonna have to keep a close eye on the little one until she gets bigger.
