Ok, I guess this question might sound a little stupid but when raising babies with live daphnia how on earth do you do your water changes?:dizzy::dizzy::dizzy:

I am right there with you on this question! Except I'm feeding newly hatched brine shrimp, which, according to the directions, I'm supposed to "rinse." (Rinsing specks...) They actually go right through the coffee filter I'm using...

Basically, I am feeding the babies twice daily, and switch out the water by dumping the new shrimp into a fresh clean batch of water. Then I transfer the babies with a teaspoon into the "new" water that's full of food.

I found the easiest thing to use was either a pair of tights, or should I say a piece of , or a bit of muslin.to collect the food or rinse it.
Transfer your baby to a seperate countainer collect what is left of live food in a turkey baster or pipet and pass it through the material rinse off with clean water if these are coming from dirty water and transfer to container with baby.

Ok thanks,
This is my plan...I think. Remove babies to fresh water. Stick a lamp over the end of the dirty water. Wait a few minutes until the daphnia have gathered under the light. Stuck em up and rinse em out. Return to clean water and babies. I'm sure this isn't going to work very well as I'm thinking most of the tiny daphnia (which is what the babies eat right?) won't survive the rinse.
Guess I'll end up feeding BBS.
Bren, I think the key with the BBS is quantity. When I tested to make sure the eggs I'd got hatched, the BBS were so tiny and so white I didn't think I'd be able to do it either. If you wack a whole spoonful in it's a different story :)

The nylon idea is perfect.... I think I'll try that!
