Hey Everyone,

Just wanted some advice, I've got 3 axolotl's in a foot four tank with plants and little crevices, and noticed the two wildtypes have been spending a lot of time together over the past few days

Then, I noticed that the female (Judy) started getting a lot bigger, and Jeremy (The male) left her a lone starting from today. The other leucistic one (Doctor (Also Female) has left her alone and they are both at the other side of the tank as I type this.

 Now I believe she is laying eggs, little black dots, and shes guarding them from the others, I'm not quite sure how many, but there are lots... I can section her off, but was wondering what do I do, should I remove the eggs when she's laid them, into a seperate tank, ( I set up a back up tank, gave it a few cycles just in case) and feed Judy regulay as per normal? Help!!!

I'll upload pictures soon I promise!

If you are still using the tank i saw, it can be sectioned off, remove the female and isolate the eggs so they dont get eaten. Feed Judy as usual.

Is there such a thing as prespawn? There's black dots appearing on the plants where she's been, however I can't actually see any spawn for now, however she's rubbing up against the plants a lot, and hasn't moved from that section in the tank all day. Any ideas?

Do the little black dots look like black versions of the eggs at the bottom of this page:

I don't think they could be anything else... If you watch her it should look like she is kind of gripping onto plants and then you'll notice some eggs on the plants after she's moved away.

As Ian said, section off the tank so she is separate as laying can be very stressful on the females body and remove the eggs, they can be kept in some dechlorinated water.
