Ok, well at the moment I have one male and two mature females in the same tank (both older than 2 years) and about a week ago I noticed some spermaphores in the tank, I could only see 5 or so.
I really would like some more babies so I put some shets of slate in to help him affix them to (my tank is mostly sand-bottom with few pile of rocks and wood), but its been more than a week and he hasn't done any more. is there any way I can 'tempt' him into laying some more spermaphores?
im dropping the temprature from 18 C to 15 C tonight to se if that'll help but any suggestions are much appreciated:happy:

Thanks,
Ollie

Change in temperature and also in daylight activates the axolotls mating instincts. Sometimes you can manipulate light to entice them...keeping them in the dark for longer each day? maybe. Separating them for a while and then reuniting has sparked mating behavior in mine as well.

Thanks Grace,
I think I'll try that. I've just reduced the temprature and I suppose I lower the light too. I might try seperating them if that doesn't work, but I don't really want to take him away from his plants, he's always playing in them :D

what about a candle lit dinner for 3.....hehehe. Im sorry I could help it:D.

I would love my 2 to have babies but they wont listen to me, I was thinking maybe this winter but Im going to let nature take its course.

I dont think Abby(my boy) even likes Cookie(my girl) she is a bit bossy but he hasnt got anywhere else to go.

ha ha candles, very nice

I know what you mean. spermaphrores were a bit of a surprise, my little boy is always too busy exploring to pay any attention to the two beautiful ladies in his tank.
