Hi all, my Lucy axolotl Flo has had a poorly hand for a few weeks, I assumed it was a cut or injury from a tank mate bite and would naturally heal. Her hand doesn’t seem to be healing though. She tends to nurse it by tucking it under her torso. (I don’t make a habit of touching my axolotls, just had to in this case to get the photos). Any ideas?

Well cared axolotls usually heal and regenerate their members easily, but it can take several weeks/months.
The problem here could be the tankmates, which will be attracted by the open wound and bite it again and again.
You'd better take Flo apart from its tankmates, at least during the healing time.

Thank you for your advise. I have a 200lt/40 gallon tank with 2 axolotls, im planning on creating a tank divider to keep the two apart, that should hopefully keep the two apart

Thank you! I’ll get some of this. Any recommended brands?
I don't think there are specific brands just make sure the salt is non-iodised, marine tends to be the most commonly used.

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
