Here are some photos I took in my new pond, T. Vulgaris have already arrived!

This is an extremely fat female:

Caught a male in full breeding attire catching some air (just use your imagination, it's a beautiful sight!)

And a shot of my pond, I build this one specially for newts:

Thanks! Every plant still needs to grow though, it's a bit empty right now.

Nice pond Coen congrats,
how the newts appeared ? Did you put them in or was it spontaneous ?

T. Vulgaris are very common here in the southwest of Holland.

I had them in my previous smaller pond, but that one has been gone for a couple of years, and now I have this large pond since the beginning of the winter last year, and the newts probably came from ditches (is that the right word for the small, long watercanals you see on the side of roads?) and a natural drinking pond for goats from my neighbours.

I'm seeing more newts appear, almost every day it seems. Too bad that T. Vulgaris is the only newt specie you're likely to find when you go out herping around here. It's a very nice specie though in my opinion.

Vulgaris are the rarest in the area where I live because of little possibilities to breed. Most common here is alpestris.

I've been on vacation in slovakia 3 times, however I never saw any newts there. I was in a lovely place called Namestovo. My parents went out walking there one day and they said they saw a Salamandra Salamandra, I really felt bad that I didn't go with them.

Hello, I’m hoping for some advice please. Our Axolotl is about 7 months old. Till now no problem. Eating, growing and happy. He’s simply stopped eating. Everything looks fine, his gills look healthy and no apparent signs of sickness. He just swims past the pellets and bloodworm like he can’t smell it. I don’t think it’s a blockage either. Any ideas and suggestions for treatment would be much appreciated. Thank you!

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
