Any advice would be welcomed!!
I have 2 axolotls and they are currently in the fridge.
Im in perth and we have just had a heat wave. The tank temp is the same temp as what is in the tropical tanks, minus the heater.
Did have internal power filter, changed to external on which hangs on the edge yesterday.
Their tails were curled at the tips. one eats heaps and is plump and the other will nibble if enticed but then spit it back out and is skinny.Ive had them for about 2 months.
Any advice on how to cool tank long term using less electricty. Tried floating iced containers. water went from 24`c to 14`c quiet rapidly but it is a quick solution as it melts quiet quickly.

24 to 14 quite rapidly is awful for an Axolotl, such rapid changes in temperature can be stressful and be pretty bad for them. Not many options are gonna use less electricity, as fans/chiller/mini fridge is your best option. Be careful of Hang Over Tank filters, as they tend to produce a great deal of water flow.

i had problems with the water temp as well...like shizeric said there isnt much you sould do without using power.....i put extra hose onto my filter(i have a canister filter) then i put the filter and/or hose in the esky and surround it with ice you will need to replace the ice morning and night (on really hot days maybe druing the day as well) but using this way in can get a bit expensive buying ice all the time.......the best thing is to but a chiller in our climate....im saving up for one.....

Hello!!! I'm new to this website and idk how to ask a proper question on the designated spot yet, so I'll ask here, I'm a first time Axolotl owner, and my dad used to run an aquarium store, anyways... Orca, my Axolotl, seems to loose parts of her toes on one limb from time to time, I can't seem to find the problem. Tempature is well, she doesn't seem to have any infections or anything, though. And I'm not sure if I'll be able to find a vet in Brazil for amphibians that are in a reasonable distance to drive without stressing Orca out too much

Hello, I’m hoping for some advice please. Our Axolotl is about 7 months old. Till now no problem. Eating, growing and happy. He’s simply stopped eating. Everything looks fine, his gills look healthy and no apparent signs of sickness. He just swims past the pellets and bloodworm like he can’t smell it. I don’t think it’s a blockage either. Any ideas and suggestions for treatment would be much appreciated. Thank you!

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
