My Firebellied newt is really inactive and limps a lot. For a while it was bleeding from the hands. It's hands look a little withered as well, and I don't think it's eating. I just got my newt a week ago, and I'm really concerned, please help, anyone.

Hi Lisa. Your newt's condition sounds dire. It would sure help to know what conditions you're keeping it in...what's the water temperature? is the water clean & cycled? are you keeping it alone or with other newts or misc. creatures? does it have access to water but prefers land (you did say it "limps"...)? are the fingers all intact? any sign of fungus? what're you trying to feed it? what kind of "firebellied newt" is it?

In case you haven't seen them already, pls read the relevant articles found at:

http://www.caudata.org/caudatecentral/articles/articles.html

...and the caresheet for your specific kind of firebelly -- if it's one of these:

Good luck!
