Hi All,

Now i was about to clean my tank (been bad and havent done it for a while) and niticed what i thought was some sort of bacteria. Today i was starting to clean my tank and then i looked more closely at what i tought was bacteria growth and oh my god they look like eggs.

But i was sure i had 2 female. Ive had these axies for a over two year and this never happened before. Here is a photo, i dont know what to do? they are not moving... Are they dead. they look like they formed, but i have no idea what im doing. i did see one of these tiny little things swimming around, but the rest are still in there white bubble.

Also, how do they not get sucked up the filter??? Any help would be appretiated.

If i have to get them out, how do i do this???

Hello,

The eggs look healthy and the embryos are well formed - I was going to write that they look quite far along, but you have already noticed some have hatched. By the time you read this message, you will certainly have found many more hatchlings. The eggs will hatch over about 3 days. There is nothing to prevent them being sucked into the filter as far as I know, so you may want to turn the filter off if you are concerned. Catch the hatchlings (a turkey baster works wonderfully for this) and remove them to containers if you want to raise them. Leave the rest in the tank and the parents will eat them.

Definitely read about breeding http://www.axolotl.org/breeding.htm and rearing http://www.axolotl.org/rearing.htm the larvae.

Good luck,

-Eva
