I bought an amphiuma means the other day and all seemed well till this evening. Now i notice what i can only describe as thready tissue on his chin. Ive checked to make sure the nitrate levels are correct, the tank is filtered and unheated. Ive been saving up to buy it for quite some time so im a little upset, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Amphiumas shed off skin and tissue pretty regularly, so this might be what's happening with yours. It can look kind of opaque and mucous like and thread off into the water. Would it be possible to post a picture just in case that's not what's happening?
