Hey =]

So I'm new to this site and hopping I have posted in the right area =]
I'm my proud owner of a beautiful albino gold axolotl called cornflake.
At the min cornflake is in a tank that's just under 10 gallons I have bought him a lovely new tank which is about 17 gallons. The plan is to transfer all the water sand decorations ect from one tank to the bigger one. My question is, if I add new water to my old water( of course the tank is going to need more water as it's a bigger tank) will be about 50% water change it ain't going to uncycle my tank is it as I normally only do 20% wanted changes.

Thanks in advance

So I did my change and now my water is really cloudy STUPiD SAND :errr: :( my axolotl is in a plastic box at the moment, can I put him in his new tank with the cloudy water or will he be fine in the box for now ?

The sand will settle, and your axie will be fine in a tub as long as you change the water every day.

As for the cycle, if you have kept the filter going, used the old ornaments etc your cycle will have survived - the only way to 'un-cycle' a tank is to kill all the bacteria in the tank and filter - usually by drying them out or scrubbing them with untreated tap water. Cycle is all about waste and bacteria, not water volume, so your new tank should adjust quickly.
