My Axolotl’s gills are forward and I understand that is a cause of stress due to environmental changes or too much water movement. However nothing has changed I don’t understand please help! What could be wrong? She’s eating fine and looks fine no tail bend so I’m freaking out! Also she’s about 5 inches long maybe a few months old?
Tried to get some pics without the flash but snapped a couple while she was turned! Please let me know! Thank you!

What are your temperature, ph, ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate levels? If nothing has changed whatsoever (nothing added to the tank, nothing sprayed near the tank, no equipment malfunction, no uneaten food, no uncleaned poop etc.), there could still be some kind of issue with the water quality. I would try doing a 50% water change and see what happens: unless the issue is with the tap water (relatively unlikely) it can't really hurt and can rule out some issues.
