Hey guys, so I have some dwarf baby tears that I'd like to plant in my axolotl tank, in order to get my plants to grow I'm planning on using some co2 and possibly aquarium plant fertilizer, however I wanna know if any of this could harm my axies, I know some people don't like live plants because they'll get chewed up or dug up and I also know some plants can be toxic to axololts, the dwarf tears will be a carpet on my tank and my axos are used to plants I have yet to have an issues with them and my plants getting destroyed. Thanks in advance.

C02 and Ferts are apparently toxic to axolotls, however using half doses of liquid ferts shouldn't cause any problems.

Ok thanks for the info, I'm thinking now of playing it safe and using the co2 and fert, howvwr when I do I could put my axos in another tank while I dose my plants after 24 hours I put my guys back in the tank, thoughts?

Sounds like a lot of work for something that could be worked around. Will dwarf baby tears make your life better than the additional effort will make it worse? As in, would it be worth it when you could instead do Java moss carpets that don't require co2 or ferts to be healthy and beautiful?

The fertilizer will still be present when you reintroduce your axolotls. The biggest concern with fertilizers is that most contain copper or other heavy metals that can do harm to your axolotls. CO2 (gas infusion) itself isnt toxic, its present in all aquatic environments, it can however cause your ph to swing which isnt really best case scenario. The liquid replacements can also contain heavy metals. The axolotls will most likely cause an early demise to your baby tears anyway. They will get frequently trampled and/or dug up and babys tears are fragile enough as is.

Yeah so today I liked more into babay tears and I've dicided to not involve them with the axos, however I have a couple of myrio that I will plant, this guys do well in low lighting and don't require the co2, btw for fert I'm planning on using Flurish Potassium, and maybe Iron, is either or both toxic to them? If so would it be better to use root tabs? And lastly, I know some people don't like planted tanks with lotls and its not just about keeping a pet, it's a hobby as well so yeah it dosent make my life better but it makes it pretty awesome if I can succeed at this, maybe I might even spark interest in others and they could do better than me. Again thanks for all the help guys :)
