Hey everyone. I was just wondering if it would be okay to put some of the fake plants from my T. grans' tank into my fish tank as I need the bacteria. Would there be any toxins that could be exposed to the fish?

You need the bacteria? It's just a piece of plastic.

And why don't you use real plants? They look better and take nitrate from the water.

Does your newt tank have a filter? If so does it have any activated carbon or other disposable media in it? If it does just put this media in the new filter when you put the fish in. There will be a lot more bacteria in the old media than on some plastic plants.

You will want to leave the media in the newt filter until you have the fish in the other tank or the bacteria will die off as they will have no food in an empty tank. They will also die if they dry out. It is fine to switch the plastic plants over, but the method I suggest is far more effective.

I would also advice against moving the plants from newt to fish and then back again without disinfecting.
