Plants for Triturus alpestris

Can anyone suggest some pond plants suitable for Triturus alpestris to lay eggs on? When can i expect the first eggs? they have over wintered outside no problem.

i assume most oxygenaters would be good. i've heard hornwort is excellent, but i suppose things like elodea would also be good
