Last night I settleed in bed to watch my Planet Earth boxset and was delighted when in the cave episode they mentioned Texas blind Salamanders. The section for this creature didnt last very long but it wasstill very interesting.

Hopefully this link will work for you to have a wee peek :)

There was also, in a different episode about fresh water, mention of the Japanese giant salamander.

Planet Earth is a gorgeous collection of documentaries. Beautiful images all around. Plus i just want to marry David Attenborough..xD Oh David, make me yours!

Hubby bought me the boxset super dooper reduced in price the other day. Im slowly making my way through it :) Its fantastic! I was hoping to see some kind of caudata in it!

You might want to check Life In Cold Blood (Episode 2) for caudates. It´s got some lovely scenes.

I will definitely check that out! Thanks so much!

There is also a series called Life in Cold Blood that is all about herps with David Attenborough. The episode "Land Invaders" is all about amphibians.

We recently got a new TV so I looked for Life in Cold Blood on blue ray...and it doesn't exist. Really frustrating - this is the sort of thing I'd love to see in HD.

Azhael...don't you think David Attenborough would be more suitable for a grandad role???
:D

Im pretty sure you can find it in HD. If not you can get a free video converter called Format Factory and then upscale it to quality HD. It works great!

Indeed, Eva, but i have a sick sense of humor xD

Today I managed to get a copy of the 'Cold Blood' series and I've just watched the second episode, Land invaders, and really enjoyed it!

The parts featuring the Caecilians was fascinating, as was the 'waving' Panamanian Golden Frog (Toad?) which I believe is Atelopus zeteki.

Superb as it is, I was slightly disappointed that there was rarely a mention of scientific names for the various creatures.

Anyway, I'm really looking forward to watching the rest of the series :D and it was nice to see a familiar name from this forum listed in the credits! Nice one, Mark

I really enjoyed watching Land Invaders. I really thought it was great and sad. Sad about those orange frogs endangered of disease. Watching it was really informative and brought up awareness as well.

Jay, it really doesn't come on Bluray (unlike some other BBC programmes of this kind). I noticed this mentioned on some other forums as well when I looked for it.
I just hope they'll produce it in the future. At the moment I have it recorded from TV and it looks alright but that's just because I'm not that fussy about these things :)
Thanks for the tip about the upscaler.

i never knew you got salamanders that size! learn something new here everyday.Don't know if i could give one a home i cant afford the lake sized tank :p
