So I just finished watching the first episode of Planet Earth on Blu-Ray. I got the European version (from Amazon.co.uk) because it has an extra disc, though it seems unfair that the special documentaries on the final DVD disc are not on the Blu-Ray.
I only gained the capability of playing HD video this evening but I've had Planet Earth waiting here for the drive to play it for a few weeks. It's staggeringly beautiful. The sheer vastness of detail you can see in some of the shots is mind-boggling. The Andrias footage is mouth-wateringly clear and very enjoyable.
If you can live without the nice documentaries on the DVD fifth disc, I highly recommend Planet Earth on Blu-Ray.
Mark Aartse-Tuyn - I saw your wife's name in the credits. Soon she'll be DG of BBC 2.
