Parc Naturel des Pyrénées ( France ): Female of Triturus helveticus helveticus . These popolations have a characteristic orange belly with black dots ( never yellow ). In this mountain lake and the mixed forest of Abies alba/Fagus sylvatica lives Bufo bufo , Salamandra salamandra fastuosa , Triturus helveticus helveticus and Alytes obstetricans obstetricans

Wow, that last pic is breathtaking!
I usually prefer caudates to anurans, but I have to say that the Bufo looks very cool.
I'll work hard this fall to finish up with my masters degree, knowing that I can start working in the spring to get money to travel down to Spain and see this!

. The toad is an Alytes obstetricans obstetricans , but the more abundant toad were Bufo bufo . I didn´t see Euproctus asper in this lake , but I'm sure that this specie prefers the small rivers of the forest , where I have seen larvae .

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
