Had to head south the other day on business and got to swing by Pigeon Mt for a quick walk. Unfortunately the humidity was extremely low, the road still hasn't been regraded and I was short on time. With the low humidity in mind I thought I would go look near the spray zone of a waterfall near the lower slopes.

I found this adult Plethodon petraeus in a large vertical crack.

Obviously they're built for climbing, check out the hind feet. Rather reminiscent on Hydromantes.

And a better pic of the same adult. Unfortunately I didn't find any of the green phase this trip, truly and awesome color.

An adult in situ.

These juveniles were rather exposed considering the conditions.

In the right conditions I have seen literally hundreds of these in the open during daylight in the span of an hour or two.
