Hi Guys

We have about 200 babies. Please could someone post pics of what each colour type looks like when they are small babies (hatched about a week ago) so that we can tell what we have. I have seen a post somehwere with pics but can't find it. Thanks very much guys - appreciated ! :)

Hi Guys

Here are some of the babies - what do you think

Karen, looks like you have wildtypes and some sort of albino. You'll be able to tell for sure when they get bigger.

Thanks Joan

The mother is a wlidtype and the father is pink albino.

Some of the babies are very very light brown/green, some just like the mother and the others look yellowy.

I always expected pink albinos to be pink ! lol

They are very cute though - swimming around now just for the sake of it it appears ! Much healthier than the first batch !

They are bigger now :)

Not as many though lol

just looked at the date i posted that - maybe they are doing ok actually. thought they would have legs by now but they are definaltely growing lol

Hi - My first time here. I have two Axolotyl's Dear and Daddy. Dear is laying eggs as we speak! Twice before we have had eggs laid, hatched and fail to thrive.

Can anyone advise how best to raise the babies.
THANKS

i found eggs last sat. i couldnt decide whether to remove them so i did half and half the half i removed are doing much better than the ones still in the tank i removed more last night they were pretty indistructable. ive been keeping them with a wide airstone and the water which i took out their tank is staying in the numbers we can compare notes this is fun ive kept the eggs with very low light i read it was good for them and it helps keep the temperature down this is my first batch of eggs so its trial and error

Quick update - these guys turned into pinks and wildtypes ..

I can't wait to see my hatch, those babies look gorgeous!
I have a feeling I'll have... blacks (wildtypes just like Kuro Ryu), golds (like Alex) and probably black with shiny eyes and skin (combo).

MY BABIES LOOK LIKE THAT!!! Except my wildtype looking ones are a bit lighter, but they have the same spots, and my little yellow ones look exactly like those ones!
What's weird is that I also have 3 leucistic ones.

Just fyi - the albino ones all turned out to be pink albinos ...

Karen, are the pink albino's the ones that are of a pinky almost transparent colour? (is that a silly question?)
I'm sooo happy!

how do u rock solid tell if the r female or male, do the females have kind of more stubby tails?

males have a noticably huger swelling at the cloaca (bum hole) then females do IF they have produced a lot of sperm. Females can't do this. Females with get really really fat at the end of the abdomen if filled with eggs. Theres also the idea that males have a longer head and tail then females. They nee dto be mature to tell for sure...

Yes transparent - I think i can now tell the difference between golden and pick albinos when they are still in the egss - there's a very subtl;e difference in co,our having had both :)
