PH level

Hello all

I remember reading here about how you can naturally raise the pH level in an aquarium. Mine is really low at the moment (6.4) so I was wondering how to get it to that *optimum pH* for my babies...

Thanks,
Paul

I would say 6.4 is quite all right, but it should be monitored to make sure it doesn't drop. Long-term tank setups tend to have steadily decreasing pH over time. In general, the best way to combat this is to do the recommended 10-20% water change weekly. If that isn't sufficient, you can add a SMALL amount of some kind of calcium carbonate: limestone, crushed shells, calci-sand, bird grit, etc. But if your pH is holding steady at 6.4, I would say leave well enough alone.
