It showed nearly 8! (API master kit). i am worried how do i lower it please!?:dizzy:

stable ph is far better than an ideal ph. What's the ph out of ur tap and the ph ur tank is normally at. Did u recently add anything new to the tank?
If the ph is typically at 8 in ur tank, or ur tap ph is 8 don't mess with it, your axolotls will be fine

my ph was high anyway round 7.6 or so, last saturday ive upgraded to a 3ft tank with sand. basically im starting all over as the filter i used before was way too small so got new one U2. i am running them both at the moment, used less than a half of my old tank water everything else is new apart from 3 plastic plants and a hideout.

other new things are another plant and hideout and a java stick, on the aquarium sand ive used it said that it doesnt change ph and stuff so i dont know.....

after doing tests today it showed that my tank is not balanced and basically starting cycle from scratch which is annoying and worrying as i am a very caring lotl mum  (ammonia 0.25, nitrite quite high bearing in mind i did water change yesterday.

klaus looks his usual happy self and eats normally and enjoys his new tank and so did i till i've done those tests.....

i really struggled with cycling the first tank and was chuffed with ammonia no higher than 0.25 at times 0 nitrite and 10-20 nitrate and stable ph and now it all comes back to me :( just hope klaus will be ok

sorry for a huge amount of moaning :uhoh:

The pH of my tap water is around 8 all the time. The only reason you should be worried is if there is something in the tank that is causing the pH to rise (limestone, cement, shells, certain types of rock). What is the pH of your source water (tap water, or whatever you use for your tank)?

wouldn't worry about it, i'd keep an eye on it to make sure its not jumping around. But a stable ph of 8 is perfectly fine

right! test on a bucket water (after treatment witch conditioner showed 7.8 ph) ph in the tank about 2 hours after water change (25-30%) showed 8 - 8.2 ph. maybe it's because the tank is cycling all over again? ph in the tank seems stable as it was the same result as last time when i put my post here.

i have no shells or stuff like that in the tank, could biomax from U2 filter cause it or sand (which said on the packet that doesnt change ph) or java bamboo stick? should i worry or leave it as it is and just do what i did before when starting new cycle
