Hello what's up everybody, I just wanted to give a quick update Two of the four newts have passed. I will put up a picture of the most recent one. I would like opinions on the newts health/weight and if you guys see any sores. I am very sad but after doing my research and getting some feedback I have understood that the newts chances of surviving were slim from the start. I will try to save the remaining 2. I hope I can, if not i will monitor the tank for a while make sure the conditions are perfect and sustainable and try to acquire some through a breeder. Damn those petstores ! Below i will attach photos.

They are in poor shape, very under weight and fragile. Don't give up hope though, I don't see any skin sores, so all's not lost yet.
Are they eating at all? Its a good sign if they are, but if not you can try tempting them with chopped nightcrawlers or live blackworms from a good aquarium shop.
Try to get some more live plants if you can, the cheap bunched stuff from petstores is perfect and keep your eye on water quality while the tank is cycling.

Thank you chinadog. They arent eating as of yet. I have some brine shrimp and some pellets but they are just now getting comfortable in the water. I dont believe the 2nd that passed drowned. I found him this morning in the water but it wasnt an area where it could've gotten stuck. I will definitely go buy more plants today so as to help the cycle along. I have treated the water and the plants are from a established aquarium which should help. Once i did add the water wysteria & pond pea the newts seemed to appreciate it. Water temp is cool. They seem docile in the enviorment. And they are getting at least 14 hours of silence and isolation since me and the ms work and dont get home till late. It is friday so i look forward to monitoring the little guys over the weekend. Advice is always welcomed and appreciated !

Sad to hear you lost another newt. Hope the other two start eating soon, as Chinadog said, they need to gain some weight! Nice pictures, good to see they don't have any apparent sores or anything. Follow Chinadog's advice and they will have a much better chance at survival. Keep up the water testing and partial water changes to ensure they have pristine conditions in the tank. I use tweezers to feed mine worms, chopped up to begin with but they are now chomping down whole worms...let the worms wriggle in front of the newt's face to encourage them to eat.

Yes it is hard seeing them go through this. I am really holding myself back from going to the petshop and giving them a piece of my mind. The other 2 newts have been submerged most of yesterday and today. I will be stopping by the petstore today to aquire some earthworms , as of now i only have brine shrimp and dont know if they will go for something that dead. The pic posted above of the deceased newt, he was very undernurished correct ? I though these guys were too damn small but i couldnt leave them at the shop . I have been wanting some CFBN and when i saw the store had some i had to take them knowing how careless petstores can be. I really hope to nurture the remaining 2 back to health, i will be posting frequently here updating you guys on the little huys progress.

How are the survivors doing, are they putting on any weight at all?

They are seeming to improve, They are submerged 75% of the day and i have been able to feed them a few pieces of worms, my girlfriend says she notices a difference in weight on the smaller newt , i hope when i get home today some of the worms i left for them are gone, but yes luckily i have been able to ffed them 2 days consecutively ! Thanks for asking chinadog ! I will try to update as much as possible.
