Hello! I have purchased these two hides and they will arrive soon. I'm going to get my tank set up soon but as of right now I'm still acquiring supplies. I have most of what I need already, though. My main concern is that, being plastic, they may leak something into the water? Just wanted to show these hides:

Thanks for reading, and have a good day/night :]

I looked into getting these as well. Based on my research, they won't leak anything into the water so that won't be your worry. The material they're made from however tends to get soft and rubbery in water over time. I don't know what product developer had that bright idea.

Thanks for the info! And if I need to replace them in the future, I will. :]

I have that cave in my tank. And was going to get that same driftwood piece but opted for a different look. The cave provides the right amount of hide as well as a flat surface on the top for my axi to lay. Zero issues

I've had the same concerns, so I've used a variety of pvc pipes/connectors (the connectors in particular come in some fun shapes), turtle platforms, and ceramic pieces, some from Amazon and some from local-ish potters(not sure if that's the right term?)

I'm sure they look great and they seen great for an axolotl. Personally, I am going for a natural look in my tank also I decided to avoid things like PVC pipes :]

Yeah, that's a valid concern. I don't really care for the most part how my tanks look as long as they have what my axolotls need, so they've been a pretty good inexpensive thing to add for my multiple aquariums 😂

Hey everyone, just want a little advice. Its 55 - 60 celcius in my Salamanders tank. Hes curled up and tyring ti bury himself, Im assuming hes too cold. I was wondering if he would benefit from a heated rock cave (since he LOVES his cave) that I could set on low? I NEVER see him curled up and trying to bury himself unless his tank sits at 63 degrees celcius or lower. So I am assuming hes a little uncomfortable.

He also seems a little sluggish, again, assuming hes cold. Having heating trouble with the new house right now. What do we think? Was thinking of grabbing this for him since its got very low, medium, and higher medium heat settings that exude heat downward inside the rock cave but ALSO exudes it UPWARDS outside of the rock cave, effectively keeping the tank itself a little warm. Seems like it miiiight be a little small for him though, my guy is about 7 inches from tip of his nose tothe tip of his tail. I also asked this as an actual question in a thread in case anyone wants to answer it there instead of here
