Alright, so i work at a pet store, and this is no "rescue" by any means. But, i wanted to show that some pet stores can have fantastic looking axolotls. This little axolotl was well taken care of in a great tank. About a month ago, i picked her up as my boyfriends valentine's day present and she is doing AMAZING and i wanted to post a picture! :) Her name is Ponyo! Also, my avatar is Ponyo.

That's a nice looking axolotl, almost looks like a copper! Could we have some more pics?

Regards Neil

Thanks guys! & i was thinking that, too! When we first got her, she was more green, and she's getting lighter. I'll take some more pictures today while i'm here! I'm kinda jealous i didn't keep her as my own..

It's nice to see a pet store have the knowledge of the pets they're selling. :)

And that's a very nice lookin' lotl!

Thank you very much! We do our best!
& here's a few more pictures of her this morning!

By the way, today i found out that Ponyo was a wild caught axolotl! Which might explain why she's a killing machine.
The company we got her from has to tell us these things but i never knew.

Wild caught where? Axolotls are critically endangered in the wild and I'm sure would be very illegal to catch and sell.

Maybe they meant wild type, classifying its color?

That's what I thought but I know I heard her say that the others were captive bred and she was not. Sounds strange.. right..? We have had other wild captured animals show up here but with axolotls being so close to extinction, I don't know! It sounded crazy. But supposedly that's how they got Ponyo.

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

sorry I am having a hard time trying to upload the pictures- I have them saved on my hard drive... any suggestions-the prompts here are not allowing for downloads that way as far as I can tell. Thanks
