Pet shops/Garden centres selling amphibians

I would just like to say how pleased I was last weekend to find one of my local Garden centres(Peter Barratts) offering care sheets to the amphibians they had for sale.
It made a nice change to see that they weren't being sold without proper advice beforehand

I bought 2 fire-bellied toads from there last week and i was also very pleased.
They even threw in a box of crickets free.

The only Amphibians i seen were Axolotls,Fire-bellied toads,Cherry frogs and Mud skippers,did you see any other Amphibians Damian?

I only saw the one's that you mention Mark,I didn't get chance to tell anybody my thoughts as all the staff were very busy catching up and selling the tropical fish etc and my girlfriend was keen to go shopping elsewhere,presumably before I bought anything !

For the past couple of years I have been buying animals at a francise located in a large garden centre in SW England. This has been without any shade of doubt the best amphibian retailer I have ever found in the UK. Visited again just before Christmas. Sad. Dried out, dirty cages. Dendrobates frying under heat lamps. Very little stock. The reason? The former employee who gave a damn about amphibians had left.

OK, so here's an idea for CC - some sort of retail report section?
