Partial Soil change????????

I was wondering if a partial soil change every so often is a good or bad idea. Maybe I have had fish for two long.....
 
I forgot to add that I was referring tigers in the dirt kinda thing and not a axie in a tank kinda thing

For my tigers, I like to completely change substrate every 6 weeks and spot clean every few days to remove feces if present. If you do a search of this forum you will see that some keepers change every 3 months, some every 6 months and some once a year. I usually do a 50% change in the spring and fall. I also spot-clean, have some live plants, and a healthy culture of springtails to help break down waste.
