Paramesotriton species ID needed

Hiya all! I unfortunately lost my Notopthalus viridiscens female last week and have been lamenting the empty tank since. Today my bf and I went out petstore hopping just browsing and we came across a tank full of newts labled as "Roughback Newts". I couldn't resist and brought a pair home. The lady that was fishing them out for us was great about letting us pick which ones we wanted and we picked the healthiest ones that we could spot (although on later inspection one of them seems to be missing a toe on its front foot.).

Anywho... we've been doing a little research and have narrowed it down to being obviously from the Paramesotriton genus but can't pin down the species. I thought maybe you all could help. The odd thing is that the two that I bought look drastically different in some respects and in others they look quite similar.

Either way, here are some pics... hope someone can shed some light on this for us! :)

First are pics of the one with the gorgeous tail that I had to have the moment I saw it...

The Other One that is much larger and slightly more olive colored.

Also, after we figure out what they could be... how in the world do you sex them? I've read differing explainations. I have one that seems to have a somewhat pronounced cloaca and one that's cloaca appears to be flush with its body. The one with the seemingly more pronounced cloaca is the one with the striped tail who is also the smaller of the two.

Sorry if I confused... I'm a little confused myself right now.

Thanks in advance!
