Paramesotriton chinensis(?) developed cataracts in left eye after 5 years of care

I originally purchased him back in early 2017 as an adult, he's been doing fine over the years despite being a slow eater.

Two weeks ago his left eye turned white seemingly overnight but his appetite and behavior wasn't affected.

This is the only case I've seen of an aquatic salamander developing cataracts so I figured I should post it here
(The tank looks a bit messy because I couldn't get a new filter due to the pandemic,but the water quality seems to be ok)

Here's him right now,he seems to get around despite only having one functioning eye left

Seems like the lens has reverted to normal now, regeneration?
